Design Thinking Process For Learning
By Ewan McIntosh

17th - 18th January 2015, Hongkong
Overview:
We've all heard about how important creativity is in the curriculum, but creativity is more than some digital media, music and finger painting. What exactly are the creative structures used by people working in creative industries (such as TV, media, fashion and tech startups), how can they be harnessed in planning and undertaking fresh approaches to learning, and how do these practices stand up to robust education research?

Objectives:
What is "collaboration," "student-designed," and "student-led" learning? What is the role of formative assessment in empowering students to learn about learning? Learn from the creative practices, independent and collaborative learning skills, and processes of some of the best media, fashion and tech companies in the world, with whom NoTosh have worked over the past five years.

Agenda:

Day 1 : Dive deep into design thinking, by living the process. We will solve a whole-school development challenge and learn some of the skills required, before asking how this applies to learning and teaching.

Day 2 : Build on existing understanding of sharing learning objectives, success criteria, feedback and skills that lead to student autonomy in learning, and see how these map to specific phases of the design thinking process.
Potential Audience

Directors and Assistant Principals of Teaching and Learning Classroom teachers Leaders of learning.
